I had the honor of providing illustrations for “The Burden of Code Switching,” an article in the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and Arts magazine. Attempting to capture the nuances of so many experiences, while also drawing from my own and those of my family and friends was a great challenge.

I decided to draw Doomfist (from Overwatch) a while back, and I wanted to do one of his legendary skins. The "Spirit" skin was my favorite and I figured it would be a good opportunity to challenge myself with the level of detail and incorporating it with a background using the technique I recently developed.

If you follow me on social media, you know I'm not too shy when it comes to talking about my mental health. Depression is something I experience more often than I'd like. A more recent episode inspired me to describe the sense of powerlessness I felt when facing an intense, enigmatic force. The Red Wolf was born. Make sure you check out my short story Inferno, which was written as a companion piece to this.

A little over a year after I made the original Seeing Stars (one of my more popular pieces) I decided it was time to revisit the character and setting, creating a new version through my recently preferred medium of digital painting vs vector. This was also a good way to further refine and develop my technique with the added challenge of rendering dyed natural hair. 

I also created a noir version (which I honestly think I like more).

I've recently decided to start exploring landscape paintings. I want to create romantic environments that have the same sense of color as my character pieces, but also including a unique, abstract quality that I can hopefully merge with said detailed character pieces. This piece is directly inspired by the photo “Sunset Boulevard” by Simon Matzinger.

Cover commission for good friend and Detroit-based music producer, J. Snow. His EP, Catharsis was experimental, psychedelic & futurist with concepts rooted in both human spirituality and our connection and love of technology. He wanted to create a cover that properly conveyed the spirit of all of these ideas. The center of the piece is his muse living in a distant future, using technology to directly connect with the ancestral holograms/spirits of past musicians.

I was a huge Gargoyles fan growing up, and I recently decided to re-watch the series. I wanted to make a piece dedicated to the lead human character on the show, Elisa Maza.

This piece was created as a tribute to the women in my life who, like myself, are fond of video games. I wanted to challenge the notion of what a "video game hero" looked like and allow fans of the medium to see characters and identities seldom explored in gaming.
